Sioux Mountain Public School

MD partnered with Finnway General Contractors to deliver a large-scale outdoor site improvement focused on creating a safe, engaging, and functional environment for students. The scope of work included extensive stone dust pathways to improve circulation throughout the grounds, installation of children’s play structures, and the construction of a naturalized dry river bed complete with a wooden bridge feature.

The project also involved placing thousands of square feet of topsoil and sod, along with seeding, trees, and plantings to establish healthy green space across the property. Additional features such as sandbox areas were integrated to enhance outdoor play opportunities. Through close coordination with Finnway, MD helped transform the school grounds into a durable, thoughtfully designed outdoor space built to support learning, recreation, and long-term use.

New Thunder Bay Correctional Complex

Throughout 2025 and continuing into 2026, MD has been actively involved in large-scale landscape installation work at the new Thunder Bay Correctional Complex, contributing to one of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects. Our scope included extensive soil preparation and sod installation, with approximately 12 acres of topsoil levelling and sod placement to establish durable, finished green space across the site.

In addition, MD completed soil preparation and hydroseeding across roughly 52 acres, carefully levelling topsoil and applying seed to promote long-term growth and site stabilization. The project also involved multiple transports and installations of trees and plantings, as well as the construction of crusher fine pathways to support accessibility and site circulation.

As work progressed, MD took on additional tasks beyond the original scope, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and a strong on-site presence. Through consistent performance and coordination, we established ourselves as a trusted partner on the project, supporting evolving site needs while maintaining quality, efficiency, and schedule adherence.

Manitouwadge Franco-Manitou Public School – Playground Redevelopment

MD partnered with Finnway General Contractors to complete a full playground and site redevelopment at Manitouwadge Franco-Manitou Public School, delivering a safe, functional, and modern outdoor space ahead of the school year. The project involved asphalt demolition and replacement, updated parking lot line painting, and the installation of new drainage basins and underground lines to improve site performance and longevity.

The scope also included sourcing and assembling new playground structures, installing pathways, and placing soccer goals to support a wide range of student activities. Extensive landscape work was completed through topsoil spreading, fine grading, hydroseeding, and the installation of trees and plantings to restore and enhance green space throughout the property.

To meet the project timeline, MD maintained a dedicated crew on site for approximately two months, working closely with Finnway to ensure the redevelopment was completed efficiently and ready for use before the start of the school year. The result is a durable, well-planned outdoor environment built to serve students and staff for years to come.

Blind River School

MD partnered closely with Finnway General Contractors to complete landscape works at the Blind River School, a project located over 10 hours from our home base in Thunder Bay. This project demonstrates the scale of work MD is trusted with and the distances we are willing to travel to support major infrastructure and institutional builds.

The scope of work included extensive topsoil spreading and fine grading, sod placement, and large-scale topsoil preparation with hydroseeding to establish durable green space. MD also completed the installation of trees and plantings, along with specialty features including a stone dust baseball diamond and sand box areas.

Through careful coordination and long-term on-site presence, MD delivered high-quality results while maintaining schedule and standards, reinforcing our reputation as a reliable partner for complex projects — regardless of location.
